FTCH Leadburn Viceroy
Roy is a charming dog, a good-looking, strong dog with a lot of will to please.
According to his owner and handler he has always been a very effective and consistent dog, he is a type of dog who ensures you will definitely have the highest amount of game in your bag after being out on a shooting day with him.
A natural game finder, which we appreciate so much.
He has been awarded the 2. place at the IGL Championship in 2008. Some friends who have been there to watch told us that he picked such a nice runner on one of his retrieves that the gallery rewarded it with a big ovation which only happened 2 times during those 3 days of trial.
He has won several awards on field trials.
We were fortunate to see some offspring from him at both Old and Young Billy Steel’s place – this just confirmed our decision was right.
3 IGL Championship Winners on the father side is quite impressive and say enough I believe.
Roy’s father is FTCH Willowyck Ruff - I think no need for introduction, a gentle, good looking dog with great temperament, who has won the IGL in 2007 with Tess Lawrence.
Roy’s mother line is also very impressive, his mum is FTCH Rockingstone Hope of Leadburn – we saw her, at the age of 10 years still a happy fellow who works unbelievably hard, with a lot of passion.
She has given birth to several FTCH’s, almost all Champions in Billy’s kennel are by Hope. she produced Champions with each stud dog she has been mated to, which agains confirms her quality.
Her father is FTCH Shorthorn Tommy of Leadburn, an other sudccessful dog at Leadhills.
If you have a closer look to Hope’s pedigree, you see FTCH Kenue Fir of Leadburn - if you listen to Billy speaking about his dogs (which is a pleasure as he does speak about them with a passion!), you quickly realise this dog was his big favourite, being a gentle dog with very strong game finding abilities.
