Had a lovely weekend judging a Working Test in Velden am Wörthersee in Austria. Beautiful surroundings, untouched nature around, moreover I was very fortunate to judge many outstanding dogs and handlers!

Although we were originally planing to run our dog there, I was also happy to jump in to judge this test, was really pleased to see again my good friends -Roddy Forbes and Les McLean.

It was a pleasure to judge with all my fellow judges, I think we had the same way of thinking about judging gundog work, which made things easy when putting up tests and than judging.

We tried to set up tests which are as close as possible to the real thing, at the different stations we were trying to test all important qualities we are looking for in a good retriever which are hunting abilities, markings, handling, and last but not least steadiness and heel-work in all classes.

Thanks for the lovely atmosphere to our austrian friends, we always feel at home when we are going to judge or to run there on any events. I again experienced a fantastic organisation on a superb ground.
